Ogilvy PR Brussels put its expertise at the service of some very special guests last week on Tuesday 18 September. OPR Brussels organized the visit of ten pandas at the heart of the Belgian and European capital. The pandas (actors in costumes) mingled with the population in their quest for a Belgian candidate with a passion for the protection of endangered species, someone who will support their cause and become a global Panda spokesperson in 2013.
Under Ogilvy’s supervision, they headed towards the EU district and took the meto towards the Central Station to meet with the press. Afterwards, they distributed free hugs at Brussels’ Grand-Place to the delight of many adoring school children. Around noon, they took a sightseeing bus tour across the city to the Atomium for a photo shoot, just like real stars should. Over the following days the pandas continued their European tour and visited Berlin, Rome and Paris for more Pandemonium.
The objective of this stunt was to raise awareness among the Belgian and expats’ communities about the conservation and reintroduction into the wild of the giant panda. People were encouraged to visit the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/ChengduPambassador. Here they could familiarize with and participate in the Chengdu Pambassador campaign, and perhaps even become the next global Pambassador 2013.
The Pambassador campaign is an initiative of the Chengdu Panda Base in partnership with the NGO WildAid.
